Coco-Dan™

*Coco-Dan™ originates from the rich soils and fresh waters of the Kurunegala region of Sri Lanka. We make sure to remove dust and long fibers, which can clog systems and provide a bad rooting environment- signs of a lower quality coco. We blend the right size fibers and particles to create a perfect rooting zone for your plants. And finally, we fresh water wash our coco so that it is lower in sodium content. Use Coco-Dan on its own or as a compliment to Grodan growcubes or granulate.

Coco-Dan® has been approved by Grodan® as it is a superior coco coir product. Unlike some coir products in the market that are too old (older than two years from harvest) or high in salt content, our source uses younger coir that has been flushed with fresh water to reduce salt content. Our coco comes from coconut trees grown way inland, in the Kurunegala region of Sri Lanka, thus guaranteeing a lower salt content than those from coastal regions. You are using the same coir provided to many large greenhouse growers throughout the world. You’ve trusted us with the best Stonewool in the market, now expect the same with Coco-Dan®!

Coco-Dan™ Growing Mix

Coco-Dan grow mix is the only OMRI Listed wet mix on the market with organic worm castings. The pre-wetted mix has only 45-50% water– giving you more coco, less water in each bag. It has not been buffered with chemical fertilizers, so it will need to be flushed through with a high calcium or magnesium fertilizer for optimum use. It delivers the perfect ratio of air to water and has excellent water holding capacity. Coco-Dan® has been fresh water rinsed. Mix in at least 10% Croutons for a drier mix. Can be used alone or combined with Grodan growcubes or granulate.

Coco-Dan™ Coco-Caps

The organic alternative to plastic covers for rockwool blocks. Use Caps to help prevent light penetration that may cause algae growth.
4” Cap suits the Grodan Delta 4” blocks.
6” cap suits the Grodan HUGO block and the Pargro Jumbo and Biggie blocks.

Coco-Dan™ Croutons

Light weight OMRI Listed coconut chips. A great organic alternative to clay pellets or rocks. Coco-Dan Croutons are fresh water rinsed and ready to use. They have a porous structure for easy root penetration. The Crouton’s water holding capacity is about similar to clay pellets.

Coco-Dan™ Coco-Mini

Coc-Mini is the fine grade coconut coir growing medium (compressed brick). Fills 1 to 1.5 round one-gal. nursery pots. NOTE: A one-gallon nursery pot only holds 88 fl. Oz., not a whole gallon.

Provides the same fine coir used in our Growing Mix. Brick is shrink- wrapped with instructions. Mix in at least 10% Croutons for a drier mix.

Coco-Dan™ Coco-Max

Coco-Max Fine grade coconut coir growing medium (compressed block). Makes 70 liters when expanded. Fills about 26 one-gal. nursery pots. NOTE: A one-gallon nursery pot only holds 88 fl. Oz., not a whole gallon.

Provides the same coir used in our Growing Mix. Block is wrapped in plastic. Mix in at least 10% Croutons for a drier mix. Block comes in bag with handle.

Coco-Dan™ Coco-Chip

Coco-Chip is a coarse grade coconut coir growing medium that comes in a compressed large block. Not as coarse as the loose Croutons, but definitely coarser than the Max or Mini. Makes 40/45 L when expanded. Fills about 17 one-gal. nursery pots. NOTE: A one-gallon nursery pot only holds 88 fl. Oz., not a whole gallon.

Here are some tips to get the optimum growth from Coco-Dan®:

Because our coir is OMRI Listed, it has not been charged with a chemical fertilizer. Coco tends to lock up a lot of positively charged nutrients such as calcium and magnesium. Therefore it is important to flush through with a high Ca/Mg fertilizer before use.
Keep your nutrient solution at a pH of 6.0-6.5. Being a non-inert substance, it will buffer pH some.
If using our finer coir products, make sure there is good drainage at the bottom of the container. For better aeration, mix in the coarser grade coco in with the finer coir.
