The Big Mama™ Experiment

To get the best results from your Big Mama, consider block saturation from the root’s perspective. We started with three
3” Gro-Blocks placed on top of three Big Mama‘s. We chose red dye to illustrate where the water/nutrient solution goes.
Fifteen hours later, we split the blocks in half to show the
results. Can YOU spot the difference? Your plants will.

Both blocks were saturated using a garden hose. For conditioning and irrigation, two dripper stakes were inserted -one in each block. Both blocks were saturated using a garden hose. For conditioning and irrigation, only one dripper stake was inserted into the top block. Only the top block was saturated to start. Then, for conditioning and irrigation, just one dripper stake was inserted into the top block.

Conditioning is complete when drippers have released
2.5 gallons of pH 5.5 water per block.

LESSONS LEARNED

#1 - It’s a terrible idea to wet up a dry Big Mama using only one drip stake!

#2 - Before using, ALWAYS soak the Big Mama completely with a garden hose.

#3 - Conditioning and irrigation works best when using two drip stakes per block.
